Healthcare, in its simplest sense, is delivered by professionals who apply learned knowledge to the clinical practice of their patients. Success is reliant upon delivering the most up-to-date clinical knowledge to our healthcare providers and ensuring that knowledge is retained and reinforced to optimize the outcome that matters most – patient care. With our world’s medical knowledge growing exponentially each day, how can we efficiently continue to educate today’s healthcare professionals?

Delivering job-critical content in minutes a day, microlearning has become the most promising learning strategy for educating today’s learners. The use of microlearning platforms for education has been clinically proven now across nearly every discipline of medicine and its positive effects demonstrated at various levels of training. In this interactive webinar, Dr. Jason Weinberger, a board-certified surgeon and critical care intensivist, discuss’s how microlearning principles can be used to overcome current challenges in medical education.

With a passion for improving the lives of those around him, today’s presenter is also founder & CEO of ABSITE Quest, a microlearning platform which enables busy general surgery residents and students to study smarter, faster, daily. After successfully educating thousands of trainees in preparation for the American Board of Surgery In-Training Examination (ABSITE), Dr. Weinberger’s webinar presentation shares insights on how to better engage and educate today’s healthcare professionals:

  • Microlearning: An overall emphasis on breaking information down with repetition, practice, and reinforcement over time to increase knowledge retention, proficiency, and long-term behavior change in ways other learning methods simply can’t.
  • The Testing Effect: A continuous and active learning experience is most effective by frequently testing, challenging, and questioning individuals while giving immediate feedback & measuring proficiency.
  • Learner Engagement: Knowledge is only retained if learners are continually engaged and motivated to learn. Like a good game – content needs to be easily accessible, well curated, & maintain attention to be optimally retained.
