Qstream AI FAQs
How can I get access to Qstream AI now?
Qstream’s AI Author Assistant is available to any client who wishes this capability on their site. The feature is on as default for all client sites, unless otherwise requested. It can be toggled on and off in the “Admin” section of the platform. If you are having trouble with the setting, please reach out to your Qstream representative and they’ll be happy to assist.
Is there an additional fee to use Qstream AI?
The current version of Qstream AI is available to all customers at no additional cost.
How much time is saved by using the Author Assistant?
It will depend on the type of content and extent of the information used, but we expect the effect to be dramatic. Some users have told us that creating a Qstream is ten times faster when using the AI Author Assistant.
With a great first draft in place, you can invest your time in optimizing the learner experience rather than on composition or complex instructional design.
How many questions can I create at one time?
We recommend asking AI to create about 20% more than the number of questions you need so that you can choose the best questions without ending up with fewer than intended. Currently, you can create a maximum of 50 questions per deck.
When creating a large number of questions, ensure that enough content is uploaded in the Source Material tab or input as text in the Basic Settings tab to provide the AI with enough material to create the requested number of questions. If a large number of questions is requested but a minimal amount of source material is provided, the quality of some of the resulting questions may not meet the author’s expectations.
What is the level of accuracy and quality of Qstream’s AI Author Assistant? Do I need to review it?
AI creates a quality “first draft” using our microlearning best practices. We highly encourage content creators to review and edit the content to meet their needs, adding visuals and exercising creativity to engage learners in exciting ways.
As AI uses probabilistic language models, it can occasionally misinterpret your data, invent incorrect and improbable answers or otherwise create content unsuited to your needs. Please review and approve content drafted by our AI Author Assistant for accuracy, suitability and fit for purpose.
What happens to the content we use in the AI Author Assistant?
Any content that is uploaded and processed by Qstream AI is handled in accordance with our data policies and the policies of our third party provider, OpenAI.
Qstream’s Data Policies:
As with the other data you provide to Qstream, we retain this information for as long as necessary and in accordance with our Master Services Agreement with you. In general, this means the data is retained until our relationship with you ends – and is then deleted in accordance with our data governance policy. Our AI Terms and Conditions can also be found here. Per our current guidelines, you must not upload any HIPAA or other such personal data when creating Qstream content – whether via our AI Author Assistant or otherwise.
OpenAI’s Data Policies:
Data that you supply to us is included in API requests to our third party provider, OpenAI, who will process and retain this data in accordance with their Terms and Conditions. Per our Master Agreement with OpenAI, their AI does not train on any content it is provided. Additionally, we currently have a Zero Data Retention Agreement in place with OpenAI, which means that they will not retain your data.
What data sources does the Author Assistant rely on?
Qstream’s Author Assistant creates content with both user-input information as well as public sources that are part of OpenAI’s model to help expand upon your inputs.
The client is able to input text prompts, upload documentation and add additional context and controls before drafting content, including: language, skill level, target audience, learning outcomes and behavioral outcomes.
How has Qstream’s AI improved or been updated to ensure accuracy and relevance over time?
Since 2022, we have continuously tested and evaluated different elements of our AI model to ensure that it meets or exceeds our expectations.
Qstream will continue to review our AI to ensure that we are using the most appropriate models for our use case, ensuring that the model is optimized to abide by our best practices. We are continuously looking to improve AI by expanding input options, refining prompts and otherwise enhancing our AI features.
Our AI provider, OpenAI, is also continuously improving and expanding their AI capabilities, and Qstream will review and evaluate each new release.
What AI is being used?
Qstream AI operates on OpenAI’s ChatGPT 4.o mini.
The team evaluated several options and considered other models, ultimately selecting OpenAI’s enterprise API due to its scalability, relevant content compatibility with Qstream best practices and data validity demonstrated in the testing process.
We will vet other large language models over time, as part of our longer term roadmap.
What’s the difference between ChatGPT and Qstream AI?
ChatGPT is a form of generative AI, a tool that lets users enter prompts to receive humanlike images, text or videos that are created by AI.
Qstream’s AI, on the other hand, is not just a chatbot. The AI Author Assistant was designed to transform training content into engaging learning experiences that have been infused with Qstream’s best practices for optimal knowledge reinforcement.
While ChatGPT is the AI model that our provider, OpenAI, operates with, we have used clear, valid use cases to design and develop our AI solution to ensure that it meets Qstream clients’ needs.
Additionally, Qstream’s AI does not train on any content that is provided to it, and it does not retain any content inputs or outputs.
What measures are in place to address potential biases or ethical considerations in the AI algorithms?
All content with Qstream AI is presented to users as suggestions for review versus automatically placed into a learner-facing environment. AI with human intervention produces the best results. Additionally, we selected OpenAI’s ChatGPT because the model’s maturity is an asset with regard to these issues.
What support and resources are available to users for understanding and leveraging the AI features of your system effectively?
Qstream has video and content documentation available, along with the expertise of our team, to assist in client adoption of these features. Also, we’ve designed the user experience to be intuitive so that it’s an extension of the existing experience versus a significant change in usage. We encourage clients to have fun and get creative with the use of Qstream AI! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Qstream consultant.
