Dan Whelan
CEO

Dan Whelan is the Chief Executive Officer of Qstream, responsible for ushering Qstream toward market growth and leadership, targeting new markets and innovating its microlearning and knowledge retention platform to provide even greater value and positive business impact for customers. Prior to Qstream, Whelan was CEO of Revenue Management Systems (RMS), the premier provider of revenue management software and services to the airline industry, where he helped transform the company into a high-growth technology business after its acquisition by private equity. Prior to RMS, Whelan was president and general manager at Data Fusion Technologies, a leading provider of analytics software and services to the legal industry, and SVP of worldwide services and support at Epicor Software Corporation. He began his career in consulting at Accenture and received his BA from the University of Washington. Whelan is based in Seattle.

TJ Unger
Director of Finance

TJ Unger, CFA is the Head of Finance at Qstream, where he is responsible for the full financial function, including accounting, financial planning and forecasting, strategic planning and investor relations. TJ has more than 15 years’ experience in corporate finance, strategy consulting and investment management across multiple industries, having lived and worked in different markets (Canada, Ireland, UK). He has developed a full quantitative and qualitative understanding of how value is derived, measured and should be conveyed to various audiences.TJ graduated from Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics & Economics. He is also Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and has passed the Exempt Market Proficiency (EMP) and Officers’, Partners’, and Directors’ (OPD) Courses with the IFSE Institute in Toronto, Canada. He is based in Dublin, Ireland.

Karen O’Mahony
VP Client Services

Karen O’Mahony is the Vice President of Client Services, leading the team of Services Consultants who work with Qstream’s customers to prepare them for their successful use of the microlearning platform within their organizations and in supporting them in their ongoing Qstream programs to drive best practices and maximize business outcomes.  O’Mahony has more than 20 years of experience specializing in operational efficiency optimization for a range of industries including travel technology, music and call center. Prior to Qstream, she was the director of operations at Kinia, a charity in the technology education sector. Prior to Kinia, she was an executive coach and business change consultant, and also spent more than 10 years at Datalex, a market leader in digital commerce for travel retailers, leading project delivery and business change. She received her BA from Dublin City University. O’Mahony resides in Dublin, Ireland.

David Resendes
VP Marketing

David Resendes is the Vice President of Marketing at Qstream, where he is responsible for overseeing Qstream’s global marketing strategy. Prior to his leadership role, Resendes served in various marketing positions at Qstream. Resendes is an expert on full funnel marketing campaigns and has extensive experience in growth marketing, demand generation, sales operations and enablement, customer marketing and messaging and content. Resendes has proven knowledge in the learning and development technology market and has a deep passion for learning, teaching and professional development. Resendes holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Management with a concentration in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He is based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Jim Bowley
VP Product Management

Jim Bowley is the Vice President of Product Management at Qstream, responsible for aligning Qstream’s product strategy, roadmap and execution with its vision to revolutionize individualized workplace learning. He has over 25 years’ experience in HR technology, previously serving in an executive role at PeopleFluent, a talent management leader. Bowley received his BA and MA from Boston College. He resides in Boston.

Catherine Ennis
VP Engineering

Catherine Ennis is the Vice President of Engineering at Qstream, where she oversees Qstream’s team of engineers and developers. Ennis has over 20 years’ experience as a strategic leader in IT and Data Management and has worked across a variety of industries in North America, the UK and Ireland. Among her previous positions, Ennis was Head of Architecture in Irish Water and Director of Business Applications at the Nature Conservancy of Canada. She holds a certificate in Strategic Management of Enterprise IT from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Edinburgh and a degree in Science from Trinity College, Dublin. Ennis is based in Dublin, Ireland.

Caleb Winder
Managing Director, Excel Venture Management

Caleb has nearly 25 years of operating, startup, and financing experience in life science and healthcare companies. He plays an instrumental role in sourcing and structuring deals and works closely with portfolio companies to form strategic partnerships and to develop commercialization and marketing strategies. He currently (or formerly) represents Excel as a Board Director or Observer at Aileron, Aventura, Ayogo, ClearData, InfoBionic, Molecular Templates, Oculus Health, ShapeUp (sold to Virgin Pulse), Saladax Biomedical, and MedVentive (sold to McKesson).

Prior to joining Excel, Caleb was a Principal at Biotechonomy Ventures, where he financed and managed several entrepreneurial ventures, including Synthetic Genomics, where he was also the Director of Finance, BioTrove (sold to Life Technologies), Biocius (sold to Agilent Technologies), and Xcellerex (sold to GE).

Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, Caleb was an award-winning sales and marketing executive at medical equipment and diagnostics companies. He received his M.B.A. from Babson College, magna cum laude, where he was a Babson Fellow in the Center for Technology Enterprise. He received a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Economics from Colby College.

Harry Copperman
CEO, HDC Ventures 

From 1993 through 1999 Mr. Copperman served as Senior Vice President and Group Executive of the Products Division at Digital Equipment Corporation where he was responsible for multiple business units and worldwide manufacturing and distribution. He managed 22,000 employees generating $7 billion in annual revenues. Prior to joining Digital, Mr. Copperman served in senior executive roles at JWP, Commodore, Apple and IBM and sat on a number of public company boards including America Online, 800 Software, Epicor Software, Avocent and AXS-One. He currently sits on the boards of Meru Networks and ID Systems as well as a number of private companies.

Hambleton Lord
Chairman, Launchpad Venture Group

Hambleton (Ham) Lord is Managing Director of Launchpad Venture Group, a Boston-based angel group focused on technology and an investor and advisor to early-stage companies. He is a board member for Cambridge Trust and board observer for Building Engines and EveryScape. Ham co-founded data visualization vendor, Advanced Visual Systems and helped launch two computational chemistry companies, MicroChem Technologies and Polygen which were part of an industry wide acquisition roll-up that resulted in Accelrys.

Gary Swart
Partner, Polaris Partners 

Gary is a partner at Polaris Partners, investing in technology companies from the firm’s San Francisco office. Gary serves as a thought leader on marketplaces, the future of work, how best to hire and manage teams, and on the rise of the “freelance economy.” Prior to Polaris, Gary was the CEO of oDesk, Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Intellibank and a Business Unit Executive for IBM’s Rational Software Product Group. He is also a faculty member at the Alchemist Academy and a StartX Mentor.

Shay Garvey
Partner, Frontline Ventures 

Shay is a founding partner of Frontline Ventures and one of the most active and experienced early stage technology investors in Europe. He was part of the core team of Delta Partners that raised 4 funds and €235m between 1994-2007. He has invested in 25 early-stage tech companies and achieved exits over a number of cycles with deep networks among investors and the entrepreneurial community in Ireland and USA. Before becoming a prominent venture capitalist, Shay spent his earlier career with Exxon, Corning and McKinsey.
