Spotlights BrainStudio’s Innovative “Business Brain Training” Program for Oracle
SAN JOSE, CA (June 19, 2013) – Qstream, providers of the most widely used mobile sales enablement and analytics platform, announced that it has been selected to present at mLearning DemoFest 2013, an exclusive showcase of the industry’s top mobile learning projects and applications. Qstream CEO and co-founder Duncan Lennox will highlight for the audience BrainStudio International’s new “Business Brain Training” knowledge retention program, a cutting-edge mobile application based on the Qstream platform to be introduced to thousands of Oracle employees later this summer.
Hosted by the eLearning Guild, DemoFest will take place at the Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, CA, Wednesday evening, June 19. Executives from Adobe, Cisco, Fujitsu, PwC and other leading organizations will join Lennox in presenting the year’s most innovative mobile learning projects.
A pioneering Qstream customer based in the Netherlands, BrainStudio International provides “business brain” skills to Fortune 500 clients facing the challenges of ever-increasing competition and speed of change in the marketplace. The program is designed to improve the productivity and creativity of knowledge workers by teaching and practicing mind mapping for memory improvement, speed reading and goal-setting techniques in a business context.
“Despite ongoing investments in training, studies show that professionals will forget up to 80% of what they learned within three months. This makes it difficult for market leaders like Oracle and others to change on-the-job behaviors and sustain employee knowledge and performance long term, ” said Gerard Hellwig, CEO of BrainStudio International. “We needed a way to help our clients reinforce business skills over time and introduce more advanced “thinking” topics. Qstream is the only solution we found that provides an engaging user interface and the business analytics we need in an enterprise-class mobile application. Qstream has been a tremendous success for us.”
Developed at Harvard, Qstream embraces a “spaced education” methodology scientifically proven to increase knowledge retention by pushing small amounts of information to users in a fun question-and-answer format every few days. In less than three minutes and a few clicks, users respond to questions via their iPhone, iPad, laptop, or other mobile devices. A resulting answer page offers robust explanations supported by rich media formats and a collaborative blog.
Qstream’s built-in game mechanics, including scoring and leaderboards, create positive competition among individuals and promote strong user engagement. Onboard analytics provide executives with unprecedented insights into organizational knowledge gaps, enabling highly prescriptive actions that ensure business goals are being met.
Based on the research of Dr. B. Price Kerfoot, associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and Qstream co-founder, the use of spaced education among medical professionals in more than a dozen randomized trials showed not only greater levels of user engagement, but as much as a 170 percent increase in long-term knowledge retention over traditional eLearning methods.
“Employees can’t use what they don’t remember. Dr. Kerfoot’s research proves that information is more easily learned and remembered when it’s presented in small amounts and repeated over spaced intervals rather than all at once, ” said Duncan Lennox. “Most of today’s common knowledge reinforcement methods – regional meetings, sales portals, email and Web programs – are simply not that conducive to the way people actually store things in long-term memory.”
